Ever wondered what’s going on inside your cells?
If you look at the news everyday, it’s rare to see a headline about all the great work someones cells are doing to keep them alive. Or the great work those cells did in the football game on Sunday. No kudos for cells at that last Red Carpet event for sure.
Yet without all that cellular activity, we likely would find our day not going so well.
A friend recently sent me a copy of a 3D animation from 2006 that shows some of the things going on inside your cells. Fascinating stuff that you rarely see. In fact watching it reminds us how little we realize all that occurs inside our body. Despite the age of the video, it still conveys the amazing universe of activity taking place in cells all over the body.
The video by XVIVO, a Hartford, CT company that specializes in scientific animation, was created to look at unseen molecular mechanisms that function in the cells of our body. The video depicts a complex world full of strange looking objects interacting with each other. This world appears vast, despite the fact that the action takes place in a single cell. If you watch the video, note especially how white blood cells sense and respond to their surroundings and external stimuli.
“Nuclei, proteins and lipids move with bug-like authority, slithering, gliding and twisting through 3D space. All of those things that you see in the animation are going on in every one of your cells in your body all the time,” says XVIVO lead animator John Liebler.”

When we take the time to explore these realities for ourselves, we can cultivate a deep awareness and appreciation for the amazing mechanism that is our body. So much done for our benefit that we don’t even know about. When we support our body through wellness, then we give it a chance to do all these activities with ease. However if we tax and strain our body, through unhealthy diet and stress, then these basic workings struggle to do their job.
Never underestimate the impact you have. It goes deep. Very deep.

Finally, something on TV worth watching. Enjoy.
