The definition of cancer as “the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells” is one that everyone can agree with. So what then is the tumor? The tumor that arises is the symptom of the disease. This is not a trivial distinction, for it has significant implications for the treatment of the disease.
Most treatments for cancer are aimed at the symptom. We propose that it is better, always, to treat the disease.
