A couple days ago I read a powerful article from Laurie Becklund in the LA Times. Many things make the message in her article about cancer powerful, not the least of which being that she died February 8th.
Her message brings impact to the conversation about cancer and the system in place working to find a cure. She challenges the campaign of awareness currently in place regarding cancer screening and whether or not it truly is effective.
Most of all the article is honest and genuine. It cuts to something primal. You may feel challenged by her words and that’s alright. These situations pose complex questions, with answers rarely as satisfying as we hoped.
Regardless I encourage you to read it. In respect for her life and death. For someone there in the thick of it, looking at her illness directly and asking hard questions.
